Special Family Owned in Orlando

Any one have a good tip for a special place to dine this week near the Convention Center that is family owned and run and loves serving Chowhounds? My former posts reveal what I am seeking. Places frequented by hungry locals make some of the best.

I'd go with Pio Pio in the strip mall on the corner of International Drive and Kirkman Road or Pepperoncino in the Dellagio on Sand Lake's Restaurant Row

I second Pio Pio. Went there for the first time recently and was very, very satisfied. It's not terribly close to the CC, but worth it, IMHO.

Thanks Noice. Your 2nd turned me toward a pleasing experience.

HEY! I narrow down an entire city of options based on your question, provide 2 alternatives to allow you to pick a cusine that interests you and even post links to the restaurants. Noice comes in after and agrees with one suggestion and he/she gets your thanks? Unfair....

Just kidding, glad you enjoyed Pio Pio, it's an undiscovered gem in a sea of chains.

Please, Yosemite, it was your two choices I thought that I commented on first. I see it was not posted. After that, I posted the 2nd. I am off to the other tonight. I'll reptort later. I am at this moment worried about the implications of Gen P's revelations. Don't know what happened to my first reply.

I'm nervous for your Pepperoncino experience - I've had great service there but I hear that it depends a good bit on your server - hope you get a good one.

I thought it was the razzle-dazzle quality of my "second" which really blew the OP away . . .

Seriously, I'm glad the OP liked it as much as I did.

Orlando experience: Pio Pio was excellent. Quality of the fare, its price, and the service provided was excellent. The Server was fully committed to making sure his extablishment existed for my dining pleasure. Others came to the table inquiring about my needs. Neighbors were just that, NEIGHBORS willing to chat and visit about the warm place and their order. It was just the right kind of place for me.
Pepperoncino got lost by the Cabbie. He could not find it, so Timpano's was nearby. It was surely a busy place. What was it Dorothy said; "If you can't say something nice, come sit by me."
I shall return to Pio Pio, thank you Chowhound friends.
