Napa Trip Highlights

Dinner at Ad Hoc: Big Mistake. The offering was rack of lamb. It was 80% fat. Inedible.
Lunch at LaLuna Market: Amazing. Best tacos ever!!! Fed four people for $15 and the quality was fantastic.
Bistro Jeanty: It was fine, but nothing to write home about. The tomato soup was memorable, but beyond that, not worth the trip.
Bottom Line: La Luna Market is worth driving 100 miles for.

  1. This is the third report I've heard that Ad Hoc is slipping...

    Disappointing but thanks for confirming!

      1. Also in Napa right now and went to Taqueria Rosita for lunch today. Wife had the Enchiladas and they were excellent and I had the Chili Verde which was amazing. Their tag line is "Killer Mexican food" and they aren't lying.

Dinner was at Hog Island Oyster bar in Oxbow market and it was pretty good. Between 5 and 7 they have happy hour so cheap beer/wine and oysters ($1.35 ea.) Currently they have gems from WA as they happy hour oysters. Small and briny and very tasty, served with a nice mignonette and freshly grated horseradish. Quite awesome with a good artisinal baguette. Also tried the rockefeller and while good, not great.
