Florida (Pompano & Miami) eats!

  • 9

Looking for restaurant picks near Pompano Beach to go to with my family. Specifically looking for a nice (but not too fancy) restaurant to take my mom to for her anniversary. She likes American, Italian, steaks, burgers, nothing too "crazy" and nothing spicy. If there's a vegetarian option for me, all the better :)

Also need suggestions for Miami...what's new and exciting (or old and consistent)? We are into anything - fancy, casual, any type of cuisine. Big NYC foodies, not sure where we are staying yet but will be near South Beach and downtown Miami during our stay.

Thanks in advance!

I feel like Cafe Maxx is grossly underseasoned to accommodate the older clientele.

    2. Gianni's, 1601 East Atlantic Blvd., Pompano, is a white-tablecloth fine-dining Italian restaurant. The food is universally excellent, and the professional staff makes sure your every need is anticipated.

      1. In SOBE:
        Joe's Stone Crabs
        Bazaar
        Pubbelly
        Barceloneta
        Alta Mare

Thanks, I'll check all of these out now :)!

We will be staying in Bal Harbor - if there are any good choices nearby, please let me know.

Makoto for sushi in Bal Harbour Shoppes.

J&G Grill in the St. Regis for a nice upscale meal - don't miss Antonio Bachour's desserts. It's a Jean Georges joint, I should caution, since you're from NY and have several there as well.

Josh's Deli in Surfside for hardcore house-made Jewish delicatessen food, along with some contemporary reinterpretations.

              All are worth a visit.

        1. Try J. Mark's in Pompano. nice but not too fancy and if they have the 10 ounce filet on special that night it's definitely worth it! I believe they are a "something for everyone" restaurant.

          1. I wanted to update everyone that one of our fave meals of this trip was at the Fish Shack, a hole in the wall fresh fish joint:

            Fish Shack
2862 NE 17th Ave, Pompano Beach, FL 33064

Thanks for all of the suggestions :)
