Best Tea Room, French, Thai or Pizza Restaurant near California Science Center

Whats the best tea room( the kind with pastries, crumpets, scones, etc) or restaurant a short walk or drive from the California Science Center
( 700 Exposition Park Drive Los Angeles, CA 90037 )?

We're taking a friend to the Cleopatra exhibit for her birthday, we'd like to take her to a tea room, but if there's not a good one relatively nearby ( & open on a Friday), --then we'd like to take her to something excellent. Entrees not over $20 preferably. How about French Restaurants?

We'd most like to take her to tea or french if there's a really good place. But she also loves Thai Food & Pizza.

Chado in Little Tokyo really is great. I think they make the best scones I've ever had, and the DT location is particularly sleek and modern in design. Great place for birthday tea. Happy eating!

Note that the location on Third street is now closed so that the one closest to you will be the downtown location at the Japanese American Museum.
