I am going to be in Toronto with my family for a wedding the first weekend in December. It also happens to be my daughter's sixth birthday. We are staying at the Inter-Continental in Yorkville. I am looking for a fun place to have a family birthday lunch for around 15-20 people. Flexible on the food, but we want something fun. Any ideas would be appreciated.

See this recent post recommending Yamato in Yorkville for dining with kids. I've not been there myself, but sounds like it would be a lot of fun for kids:

Agreed (obviously). I've seen many a children's birthday party at dinner time. You can probably fit your entire group (if you're closer to 15) around one of the u-shaped grills, which would be fun.

Yamato is a nice idea. It's entertaining for the kids, the teppanyaki food is pretty innocuous and should appeal to the kids, and the separate a la carte sushi items might entice adults (and some kids) as well. There are other restaurants that do teppanyaki as well, but Yamato has the added bonus of being located within walking distance of your hotel.
