Pressure cooking unpeeled chestnuts without scoring?

I found some chestnut preparation methods that steam or boil in a pressure cooker, but don't mention scoring or making an 'x'. I've had chestnuts explode on me before and am hesitant to try this, but if this works 100% of the time it could be a time saver. Does anyone have experience preparing chestnuts in a pressure cooker by either boiling or steaming?

  1. Maybe I'm wrong or old fashioned, and I have never had a boiled chestnut, only wonderful roasted ones, but when the un-scored ones explode, they are like mini-hand grenades, whether in an oven or under a fireplace andiron.
