112 Eatery

My husband made our first visit to the 112 Eatery Saturday night and needless to say we were wowed. I loved the complementary olives and almonds. DH loved only the almonds because he isn't an anise/licorice fan which flavored the olives.

DH ordered the crab salad which included rice noodles on a bed of lettuce. I tried a bite of the crab and it was great. The dressing was perfect - complemented the crab without over powering it. I had the romaine salad with gorgonzola dressing. It was slightly misleading because the dressing was more of a vinaigrette with gorgonzola on the side. Even though it was misleading, the whole romaine leaves that were well dressed were wonderful. It made me wish I knew how to make a vinaigrette like the restaurants make - the perfect balance of oil and vinegar.

For our entrees, DH ordered the duck and I ordered the chicken breast plus we got a side of carrots. DH's duck was in his words, "The best duck I've ever had". Crispy skin, medium rare, and served over a leek puree with sliced fingerling potatoes. I had a bite and it was so good. My chicken was a boneless breast with skin stuffed with merguez sausage over couscous. The chicken was wonderful - moist and tender - and the couscous was flavored with nice spice - allspice and cinnamon maybe. The roasted carrots were a suggestion from our waitress and they complemented our entrees nicely. Thin carrots that were roasted and tossed with a nice buttery/sweet sauce.

We had no room for dessert (we started our afternoon watching college football at Brit's and had an appetizer) but loved the carmel corn that came with our bill.

Overall, we totally get the hype and look forward to our next meal at 112 Eatery. We also thought that the prices for both food and wine were reasonable for the quality.
