Dinner - Before the Marathon
Heading down from Boston for the Marathon. First time to Philly. We are looking for restaurant recommendations (probably Italian) since it's the night before the marathon. We are staying at the Westin Hotel so wouldn't mind if it was walking distance or a short cab ride away. Any recommendations for places that offer delicious food, not over the top expensive and romantic atmosphe (I'll be w/ my hubby)?
one thing to keep in mind - if you want to carbo load with pastas, i've had some pastas lately that didn't actually have that much pasta in them. it seemed to me that Osteria, especially, the pasta dishes were more like dishes that include pasta in them. It's not he heap-of-pasta with sauce on top.
for fine dining, that's great. more interesting, more tasty, etc. But for pre-race carbo loading, it's not what i'd want.
re: Bob Loblaw
There's always the Maccheroni alla mugnaia at Le Virtu --if you call ahead they will make it with a 10-60 foot (depending on size of group) single strand of pasta:
I know Marabella Meatball Co. is doing the following:
Marathon Carb-Loading @ Marabella
In honor of the Philadelphia Marathon, Marabella Meatball Co. will be offering a special two-course meal on November 17. Enjoy a pasta dinner with Caesar salad for only $12. Call 215.238.1833 and ask for Gabe to make your reservation.

cwdonald's link is good but most of the places recommended are not in walking distance of the Westin. For some walkable places, check out Melograno (BYOB), Zavino, and Amis (small plates, so cost can add up if you aren't careful). With a cab ride, Osteria and Le Virtu.
