Hurricane Sandy and food

EM23 Nov 5, 2012 11:39 AM

Well, this post really is about food…
I hope all the hounds are ok, but for so many, “ok” will not be a part of their vocabulary for some time to come. The Northeast Atlantic coast has been devastated and people need so much.
I just heard on the news that money is what is needed most – that shelters can purchase up to 4 meals with $1. For $25 you can help feed 100 victims of the storm.
So, if you can, give – every little bit helps. Blood donations are also badly needed.

The Red Cross is probably the easiest way to help.

ETA: I was looking for another aid organization for victims in the Caribbean, but it seems that the American Red Cross covers that area as well. http://www.redcross.org/news/article/...

I was at Costco the other day and you could add a donation to the Red Cross onto your purchase.
They seemed to be getting a terrific response!

My heart goes out to those who lost homes. Rebuilding is a long process. My area had severe tornadoes 19 months ago and there is still some rebuilding going on.
