It is hard to know what would be a "fresh" recommendation, since you haven't mentioned where you have already been....

re: Gizmo56
We have been to a lot of places pre-toddler up and down Magazine. With the toddler we have tried Sukho's Thai, Surrey's Uptown and Mahoneys. We have been eating a lot of take out, but are looking to go out. Anything with good food, but plenty casual and friendly for a not too great at sitting at the table toddler.

re: momorains
I am having a little trouble coming up with a good Uptown rec, outside of obvious spots like Frankie & Johhny's and Camellia Grill.
If you wouldn't mind a very short drive, I would suggest trying John Besh's American Sector at the WWII Museum (Warehouse District). They are used to kids (being at the museum) and have a relaxed, casual atmosphere, and there is a lot of toddler friendly food on the menu. But they also cook with some real flair and have dishes (and drinks) that will please the grown-ups.
