El Lando equivalent in Barcelona???

quindi Nov 3, 2012 06:44 PM

El Lando in Madrid is one of my favorite restaurants in the world. I will be in Barcelona soon (without time to take a side trip to Madrid). Can anyone recommend a comparable restaurant in Barcelona? I'm looking for a place with similar look, feel and cuisine.

Much appreciated!

I don't think there are a lot of places offering Madrid-style cuisine in Barcelona. It's not a style that's that popular outside the capital, and it's not normally something people seek out in Barcelona.

The only place I've heard of is the branch of Cerveceria Jose Luis on Diagonal on the edge of the Eixample and Sant-Gervasi.

If, on the other hand, you were looking for a similar place that serves Catalan cuisine, you would have many options.

Thanks for the reply! Do you have any recommendations for a restaurant serving classic Catalan fare with a similar look, feel and vibe to El Lando?

The more I think about it, the harder it is for me to come up with a suggestion of something that would be like a Madrid taberna. Perhaps Senyor Parellada? Can Culleretes? 7 Portes?

Maybe someone else can answer this one better.

I should probably have written mesón instead of taberna. Seems Madrileños use the former more than the latter.
