AJ's Burgers in New Rochelle - I love this place

Just before Sandy hit I made my 5th or 6th visit to AJ's and, once again, came away pleased with the experience. Had the lunch special "Mo's Favorite Lobster and Shrimp Positano" which was a very good pasta dish with shrimp and lobster, arugala and tomatoes. The portion size was a little too heavy for lunch but I finished every last bit. Price: $19.

As he's done in the past while waiting for the entree, the owner brought us each something complimentary to try. In this case it was a delicious cup of shrimp bisque. On my previous visit this past summer it was a chocolate milk shake. Good food with attentive and friendly service make AJ's a winner in my book.

The owner is one of the nicest guys in the business. Food is great, but he just makes you want to come back. Bisque is first rate. Every time we drive by, my son asks when we can go back. Great family place. Parking is just across the street by the city building.

Agreed with the graciousness of the owner and the entire staff. I have probably been there four or five times and there if he's there, I'm always sure to get a sample of something. The first time, when it was relatively new, I went home with more food than I ate there.

I'm a little sad. Haven't been to AJ's in over a year and I live about ten minutes away by car. While I think the overall quality of the food slipped a little last summer, they still have the best sliders around. The last few times I was there the standouts were the chili and the chicken with broccoli rabe sandwich.

Whoa !!! Reading about a possible good chili and a possible good chicken with broccoli rabe sandwich ... made me jump with excitement. I might go and get both.
