Catalina Offshore Products

quick question.

Is there an actual Market, or is it kind of an order on phone or online and then pick up kind of situation?

I know it's sacrilege to bash COP but the last couple of times I've been on Saturday the fish I purchased just wasn't that fresh. I really believe in everything they are doing down there but there's no excuse for selling product that is on the backside of fresh.

Did you think to call and let them know? I'm sure they'll have no problem with refunding or replacing the product.

Simple solution. Always go into the back to see what's fresh and to pick your seafood. Besides, it's a neat operation to check out.

No more going-to-the-back. They now have a retail area, fish on display.

You can always still go in to the back on request. That way you see what is currently coming in and fresh. Now, you might have to wait to get something you want, but it may be worth it.

Make sure to wear closed toe shoes. I had sandals on so only my better half got to go back and choose the seafood if you want to go back and see all that they have.

And wear a hat so you don't get stuck putting on one of their ugly hair nets!

You can call to order or you can walk in-there is a whiteboard of prices. If not busy, you can get a 'tour' of the processing area. There are no glass cases or lemon wedges and parsley of a display area.

Walking in the front door, it's an office area. That's where you'd pick up.

We went there the first time on a weekday morning and it wasn't busy, so saw the facilities (very clean; no odors). Now we just order and pick up. Sign up on the website and special Fri-Sat only prices will be emailed at 5 p.m. on Thursdays.

They are actually in the process of revamping the place and I'm told it will have more of a market/display for the general public.

I've seen it, and yes, far more retail than ever. Display cases, a "real" cashier and everything. No awkward standing in the office- just walk right in to the "shop".

Can hardly wait, any ETA for when they're going to unveil it and put it into service?

Thx. I haven't been there for about a month. This is probably enough incentive to make the next time real soon

I haven't picked up since the week after Labor Day; husband has and never told me! I just don't like the weekend crowds...
