reception location help please

I am looking for an affordable venue to host a reception near the convention center in Philadelphia. I found a place years ago through chowhound that worked well but I cannot figure out what the name was (chinese restaurant with if I recall a woman's name). I will have 50-60 people for appetizers. A private room would be great. We have a limited budget ($10/pp). Any ideas? I looked at Vietnam but they are too expensive.

What about Joseph Poon, Smokin Betty, or Trestle Inn? $10 is super tight and honestly, I'm not sure you're going to be able to keep within that tight of a budget.

I was thinking poon as well. His menu online starts at 35 per person 20 person minimum. Not sure if he will do less. 1010 Cherry where his banquet hall is would be very convenient.

Thanks. This is helpful. I am working on raising the budget I have to work with. It seems most places have a minimum, which is understandable. The place I used years ago had a room off to the side we used so they kept their full operation going while we had a nice space.

Try Tazia on 11th St, they may be able to work with you. It's big, and they have a late night happy hour, so they may be happy with $10/person plus cash bar.

Check out Joy Tsin Lau or Lee How Fouk (may be too small). 10 dollars is real tight but if you do it in afternoon you might be able to scrape by.

Fouk can accomodate 48, and at least on their website their menus start at 25 per person for dinner. Again do not know if they do appetizers.

I think we would end up taking up too much room for not enough money for them. If they give up so much space they deserve the full 25/pp!

In addition to their restaurant they do have a room for private dining. It just may not be big enough for your whole party.
