Monmouth Co restaurants open so far

Just thought this thread might be more relavant to our lives for the next few days to a week, although you wouldn't believe the hoops I had to jump through to get online.

To start:

All Seasons II diner in ... Manalapan? Freehold? One of those anyway, Rt. 9 north opened today. We had lunch at the Marlboro Renaissance diner. Never saw it so packed!

Never saw Wegman's so crowded, either. Didn't expect the shelves to be so well-stocked. Got everything on our list except bacon (only because my wife forgot, and crowds freak her out, so we had to get out of there!)

Wegman's deserves everyone's business in the Marlboro/Manalapan area. They were the only supermarket fully operational during the storm and after. They spend the money on being equipped with a powerful enough generator and should be commended for that. All their new stores are built that way. They had total refrigeration going at all times and were receiving deliveries every day. They saved our area from starvation and total panic. They were soooo well organized and the staff did its best to help people. They were getting ice deliveries every day and they were fully stocked with dairy, bread, produce, firewood, water, etc. Kudos to you Wegmans for a top notch operation. You have always had my business and always will!

Wegman's also provided free charging for phones and laptops as well as free Wi-Fi access.

Sultan Wok on Rt. 35 Eatontown is open.

Acme Supermarket in Lincroft is open selling meat, dairy, frozen foods and has NO LINES!

Does anyone know the status of Red Sky Restaurant in Keyport?

Given their location, I would expect that they had a few stray boats left on their roof.

Given the randomness of the hurricane, I'll have to try to get down there rather than accept your answer. Without hope, I'll just be missing their delicious crabs benedict.

The boats could be seen literally sitting on Hwy. 35 North.

There was no randomness of this storm, Anything less than 12 feet above the water level at the western end of Raritan Bay was swamped. Have not been here but given descriptions it seems likely that Red Sky, located in a marina parking lot, was likely under this threshold. Will be interested in the report...

If I'm allowed inside that part of Keyport I'll be sure to report back, if not the police will certainly fill me in. My reference to "random" e-M was in relation to the areas hit badly and the areas not hit at all...even along water areas...and most certainly towns that were nowhere near water but the winds took out chunks of the community anyway.

According to an FB post from Red Sky they did suffer water damage but will rebuild and reopen. From the outside the restaurant appears to have taken on considerably less damage than others in the area.

Whole Foods on 35 in Middletown is also up and running.

Thanks JenniS. I was surprised as well by the varying degrees of damage in such a small area of Keyport. I posted my findings while trying to drive around this morning on the other thread.

I think WF was the first place I stopped for food and a cell charge after getting gas at the Hess on that corner (tg, before the rationing).

Maloneys on Main street in Matawan is open running on a generator. Limited menu, burgers and sandwiches but the beer is cold.

It's not Monmouth County, but Delorenzo'a is open in Robbinsville and was great as usual last night. No more crowded than usual.

10th Ave. Burrito in Belmar is open.

Local Smoke BBQ in Cookstown is also open.

Called at least a dozen random Monmouth County restaurants and the 1 place that answered (Acapulquenos in Long Branch) had no power.

Charley's in No. Long Branch, lots of sand to Avenel Blvd, but open. Not exactly thrilling food-wise, but the bar cheers my heart.

I was going to start a similar thread. Hope all our NJ CH users made it through safe. Glad to know about Fireside as its not too far. Also in the same vicinity (western Monmouth):

As for food stores, I believe all Wegmans are open (limited prepared foods available, I think). I stopped in the Manalapan store yesterday and left once I saw the hordes of people. In Freehold, Top Tomato is open. I heard that also in Freehold, Walmart and Sam's are open. In Manalapan, Target is open.

For at least some places, cash or check only.

Also just heard that The Cabin on Rt. 33 is open from 12-6 with a limited menu.

via 45 in Red Bank posted on FB that they have power and plan to open shortly. Don't know if that's true for all of Red Bank.

Villabate in Manalapan (Gordon's Corner Rd) I heard was open. $15 for a large pie, cash only.

I am in Morganville, off Union Hill Rd. Our power came on about 15 minutes ago. LAST thing I ever expected. Hopefully more restaurants will be open soon!

Bad news: I also heard another Nor'easter is coming next Wednesday.
