Fresh Octopus in Denver

uboatblue Oct 31, 2012 06:38 AM

Does anyone know where I can buy fresh octopus? There are no Portugese restaurants and the Greek shops buy their octopus chopped up. I suspect my best bet will be shshi shops, although the Asian market H Mart didn't have any.

Good luck on this one... I did not see any at Pacific Ocean Market yesterday in Broomfield. They
did have a selection of frozen.

Thanks. I left a message with Seattle Fish but I suspect I will have to go frozen.

You might be hard pressed to find fresh. All I've seen is frozen or pre-frozen (they had thawed ones at POM on Federal).

      Two suggestions:
      1) Maybe call Seafood Landing in Highlands as he's told me that he can get special orders into his distributors and he's pretty knowledgable about what's available in Denver,
      2) Pacific Mercantile in Sakura Square, or
      3) order online (found a couple options when I Googled it.

      Good luck!

Thanks. I got an email from Seattle Fish. They service Tony's Market. I can special order frozen Octopus on a couple of day's notice. So I will give it a try. One thing for certain is that it won't be the grilled octopus I recently experienced at Seabra's Marisqueira, a reknown Portugese seafood restaursant in the Iron Bound section of Newark.
