favorite uses for strawberry jam?

I'm getting quite good at making strawberry jam in my new bread maker.

Unfortunately I have yet to master the art of bread making.

Until I figure out the bread ... what are some alternate uses for this great jam - beyond eating it out of the jar with a spoon? (No double-dipping!)

  1. Mixed with plain yogurt. Oatmeal jam bar cookies. Over ice cream. No double dipping, but my Grandma had a rule: "At home you do what your Mama tells you, but at Grandma's house you can have another spoonful of jam without another piece of bread." Grandma had a sweet tooth herself!

    1. I bake, so I'll use jam on cakes, usually de-seeded and spread thinly between cake layers. Muffins are easy enough to bake, and I've also baked those with a spoonful of jam in the middle (my SO likes that); when you are preparing the muffin batter, pour half the batter you'll use in a muffin cup, top the batter with a spoonful of jam and then fill the rest of the muffin cup to your liking/recipe, then bake as usual. You can also use jam to make all sorts of baked fruit bars that are basically a crust layer, a fruit and/or jam layer, and then a top crust or crumble layer.

        I use my homemade jams in an oatmeal bar recipe, for the middle layer. It takes 3/4 cup of jam.
        I've also made jam cakes, where it is mixed into the ingredients. Haven't done one in a while, and it sounds tasty, come to think of it!

        1. Dressing for shaved ice.

          Bought an ice cone machine for under $30 this summer and had a ball making shaved ice dessert using ice cubes from my freezer.

          Typically, I would squeeze some sweet condensed milk on top of the shaved ice, and then top it with something sweet and yummy, such as strawberry jam, condensed juice, softened dried fruits that have been marinated in wine.

          1. On a hot buttered there anything better?
