What works in a mix?

Salers, Suze, Aveze are all French-made wild yellow gentian-flavored liqueurs that can be used somewhat interchangeably.

A good start is the White Negroni:
    2 oz Dry Gin
1 oz Cocchi Americano (or Lillet Blanc)
    3/4 oz Suze
Stir with ice and strain into a rocks glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

The Brown Bomber from the PDT Cocktail Book is a touch better:
2 oz George Dickel Whisky (I've used Bourbon here)
3/4 oz Lillet Blanc (or Cocchi Americano)
    1/2 oz Suze
Stir with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

One created here in Boston at Drink is the Copper Canyon:
    1 1/2 oz Reposado Tequila
    1/2 oz Crème de Cacao
    1/2 oz Salers Gentiane Liqueur
    1/2 oz Lemon Juice
1 barspoon Long Pepper Tincture (*)
Shake with ice and strain into a rocks glass containing a big ice cube. Garnish the ice cube with a pinch of salt.
(*) Will, the bartender that created it, said that any hot tincture or perhaps a dash of hot sauce would work well here.
