SmashBurger Coming to Culver City...
There was activity in the old Famima [rip] space at Venice and Overland. In the window was an ABC sign listing SmashBurger Acquisitions as the owner. They are just starting the jackhammering of the floor so It may be a few months before this is up and running.

I liked it more than five guys. The meat was more flavorful and seasoned with a good sear. Patty was also juicer but I don't remember if you order to temperature. Not quite as messy as five guys. You can choose your bun from Classic Egg, Multi-grain, Spicy chipotle. Torta roll or just Lettuce. Choice of cheese including American, Aged Swiss ,Blue. Goa, Pepper jack, or Sharp cheddar. Each city has it's own special burger in SAN DIEGO it's Fresh avocado, fresh cilantro and onions, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream and spicy chipotle mayo on a torta roll. Served with a wedge of lime. Burgers run around $6 and about $1.50 more for a big smash (a double). It's a good fast food burger.

re: granadafan
DIfferent price point entirely for Smashburger, and worth the difference, IMNSHO.
There's a shopping area that has both about 2 miles from me here in SLC. I've gone to SB 5 or 6 times for every visit to InO.
Now that I've been diagnosed as diabetic that ratio will no doubt go way up. SB's Veggie Frites are nice alternative to spuds... and I will miss InO spuds for sure.
Went to 5 Guys once and could not have been less impressed with the burger, though I liked the fries a lot.

re: GroovinGourmet
+1 re your assessment of five guys. Actually, the meal we had at the culver city location was fine, nothing earth shattering, but tasty. Then I went again to one out in Ventura County, and perhaps I got the wrong things on the burger this time, but I did not like it as well, I didn't even finish it, which is rare for me. But the fries were great.
