hello-

so, these are the rumors i have heard:

there is a new restaurant opening on main street, down near cumberland farms where the antique shop used to be. its been painted a really nice dark blue. i have heard 3 things: its going to be italian, its going to be a irish pub, and now today my husband heard its going to be seafood. there is no signs out front yet.

i heard a woman from west stockbridge bought the friendlys building and is turning it into a family-friendly place.

i heard cafe adam is moving across the street to the jennifer house commons, right next the the barrington brewery, where the old michael wainwright outlet shop was.

im curious about it all if anyone "really" knows!

  1. Well, I don't know if this is one you are wondering about, but I know Mark Firth just opened Bell & Anchor, and there's a lot of buzz and excitement there. I think it's going to be THE place to eat and hang out in GB this winter. Lucky south county!

      2. yes, there is a new restaurant on main st in the location where an antique store used to be. It is open now but hasn't had their official opening. I would love to hear any reviews.

        1. I'll go scout this Friday. :)

          1. Bell & Anchor is a treat. We walked in around 6:00 last night with no reservation. Nice feeling inside, good service, excellent food. We had the cassoulet & the lamb and potatoes, followed by a thyme custard & sugar cookie for desert. The food was about as un-fussy (and flavorful) as it comes, and absolutely perfectly prepared. See you all there. :-)

We tried bell and anchor Friday night. Be aware: there's no sign out front.

Food was good. We started with the kale salad and the beets with ginger and apple. Both were very good, nice and light, maybe a little too much use of apples in both appetizers but that was ok for us. Entrees weren't as good. Wifes chicken under a brick was very salty and my lamb with roasted potatoes consisted of two grisly lamb pieces (chop and another part I didn't recognize) and about 4 potatoes in a carrot/fennel salad (not indicated on the menu). We didn't get dessert.

Regardless, it's a pretty good spot, with great service (host and waiters are excellent), and it seems kid friendly. The burgers looked awesome so I may get that the next time.

on my way home from work tonight, my co-worker and i went to bell & anchor for the 1st time. we got there at 5:15 and the bar was 1/2 full and dining room pretty empty. i thought the place was beautiful. rustic, casual, really great. we sat at the bar and ordered a cocktail and shared some duck fat french fries. hostess & bartender very friendly. fries tasty. the menu was small i thought. had to get home, so we left at 6pm and the place was packed & lively. i look foward to going back and having a meal.
