Tavern on Rittenhouse Square

Late October, a perfect night for al fresco dining in the lovely courtyard of the Art Alliance at the Rittenhouse Tavern, really! This wonderful structure positioned at a corner of Rittenhouse Square houses a relatively small tavern with an period appropriate bar and dinning room. The courtyard dining, for me, is the high light. Our server was quite will informed relative to their offerings in beer, wine and the menu, attentive and professional with just the right amount of personality. All four of our party enjoyed their selections which included portobello fries, beets, gem lettuce, the cauliflower steak, curry carrots and the RT burgers. A nice selection of speciality cocktails, bottled beers and a small but nicely representative wine list. The carafes of Illy coffee were perfectly and freshly brewed. The apple mille feuille was a wonderful seasonal selection and the vanilla tapioca with huckleberry, caramel, black sesame was excellent. I will leave it for others to position RT in the pantheon of the city's restaurants. For us the total experience was a perfect confluence of sensory stimulations.
