First Cape Scallop Sighting 2012
James Hook had them yesterday at $29.99/lb and they are fantastic as always. I think prices came down some last year due to a large catch but this has been about standard for a while.
I prefer them raw sashimi style with soy and wasabi or just a squeeze of lemon. If you cook, do NOT overcook.
For the nostalgia folk, Locke Ober always had them in season and did a great job..same with soft shell crabs.
I've been eating them since Oct. 2 here on the Cape. Local monger sells them for $24.99. Love them sashimi style or flash sauteed in a hot fry pan for about 2 minutes tops.
They have them at New Deal, too. Agree with tips against overcooking and trying them raw or just barely cooked.
Mercato De Mare on salem street in North End has them this week. Not sure what price point though.
