Downtown Restaurant for Sunday dinner for a group of about 30?

Hi all,

We are having a memorial at Fukui mortuary this Sunday, and want to take people out to dinner after. It's at on Temple by Vignes, sort of close to Little Tokyo. I think we would like Japanese or Chinese food. Does any one know of a place that might be able to accommodate us? Price doesn't really matter at this point.

Thanks for any advice!

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any Japanese restaurant close to Little Tokyo that could easily accommodate a group of 30.

If you want, you might consider Takami and reserve their private room. But it'll be pricey but since $ isn't a consideration ...

If you opt for Chinese, might want to call Empress Pavilion in Chinatown and try and reserve one of their larger banquet rooms and request a banquet menu for 3 tables (10 people/table).

And as a counterpoint to the Takami rec, for Chinese (or Chinese inspired) might consider WP24 and see what they can do for your group.

The food is so-so, but Oiwake in Little Tokyo Village can definitely accommodate you. And the price is very reasonable. Just so you know, depending on the other parties in the restaurant, it can get a bit festive in Oiwake (they have a karaoke TV setup), in case that's not the vibe you want after a memorial...

As for Chinatown: In addition to Empress Pavilion, Ocean Seafood (on Hill) can also accommodate you.

      Non-Chinese & Non-Japanese: There's always Philippe's the Original French Dip closeby... And I believe there's a Denny's nearby if you're really in a pinch.
