Sticky hands from peeling butternut squash

Whenever I peel butternut squash, I get a sticky substance on my hands that is impossible to get off. Even after cleaning them well with soap and water, this substance is still there and when it dries it shrinks on my hands and feels very tight. I can feel it on my hands for a few days after and it drives me crazy!!!

I love to cook with butternut squash, but hate peeling it because of what happens to my hands - please let me know if you have any suggestions for what do to about this!

  1. Click to Upload a photo (10 MB limit)
    1. Buy a box of latex gloves at the drugstore. They're less than $10 and you'll find all kind of uses for them.

      1. Lemon juice & salt scrub.

        1. This happen to me with pumpkin last Halloween. It was driving me crazy. I tried every recommendation I could find on the web. The only thing that gave me any relief was soaking my hands in an epsom salt bath for about 15 minutes. It took 90% of the film off and by the next day it was all gone. Whew!
