Hi gang. Any suggestions for Sushi. My Sister-in-law is coming in from Florida and we want to take her and the rest of the family (15 people in total) for sushi but don't want to spend a fortune. Most of them don't know anything about good food and we can't stand their criticisms.

Cheap good sushi at a place that seats groups, that's a hard one. I'd be tempted to just get a big table at a good place in Chinatown and order a lot of seafood instead?

Sakura on Drummond is affordable and can seat groups
So can Azuma on St Laurent
      Japon in Ville St Laurent
      Shodan on Metcalfe
      Yakimono on Decarie
      Mikasa on Peel
      Miso on Atwater

      There are lots of places

Shodan is not cheap. Mikasa and Sakura aren't really cheap either. I can't speak to the rest.

Look, you can't feed 15 ppl sushi and not bust the bank unless you go to some all-you-can-eat place at lunch. Besides that, there's probably better sushi in any city in Florida.

the request was for not too expensive and all of these places are mid-price range. For example, at Sakura, rolls are $6.50-$10...last I looked that's what sushi shop charges

We always had good sushi at Furusato (previously known as Osaka) on Bleury. Not expensive.

I don't know about getting a reservation for 15 at Furusato. They'd have to close the restaurant. Anyway, I don't think sushi is their strong point.

Have a look at "Sushi Yu Mi" on Sherbrooke W. (in Westmount)

Been there for lunch and it is always pleasant.

I really like them and their food is good enough. They are young and English and the space reflects their enthusiasm. I particularly enjoyed their sushi pizza.
