Sad goodbye to Nan
We are so sorry that Nan, the wonderful French/Thai byob at 40th and Chestnut, is now closed.
We knew that the talented owner/chef, Kamol Phutlek, had a stroke last spring. Everyone hoped that he would recover sufficiently to be back at the restaurant, but it didn't happen.
We wish him well.
We had been patrons of Nan for years.
Some of our favorites:
the best cold cucumber soup in the world (we have the recipe, but haven't yet tried it)
my favorite Pad Thai
the wonderful preparation of duck breast
anything with puff pastry, including the fabulous apple dessert
We never had a meal there that was less than excellent - never a complaint of any kind.
Good luck, Kamol and Flo and their family and friends.
You will be missed!
