Suggestions for a foodie birthday dinner location either in Mid-City or Westside that would be affordable... ~$10-15 per person without drinks?

Friendly place for older adults (i.e. not too loud)

Super casual (so casual it has a drive-through for takeout), but great food and within your price range:

Sunny Grill in Mar Vista (near Venice & Inglewood) - Best Gyros on the Westside, and arguably in all of L.A.! Atmosphere: Conversation-friendly. They have al fresco seating also.

Their gyros and fries are great! Really fresh Greek salad also. And who can say no to an Oreo milkshake?

How about Musha for izakaya? $10-15 doesn't go very far on the westside....
Or there may be other izakaya places closer to the 405 or east that will fit your budget....

never got out of musha anywhere near that budget. basically the budget would need to be doubled.
also, musha cannot be said to be "not too loud" because the tables are jammed practically on top of each other.

If your party is 6 or more, you can reserve the tatami room (no extra charge), which is quiet and delightful for a party.. Love Musha and highly recommend it, but agree that it would be difficult to manage on that budget. I've eaten very well there w/ ample amounts of food for about $20 a person (not including drinks), but don't think you can get much lower than that.

Agree with both. Love Musha. Never managed to reserve the room or fit the food in $10-15. Also, can be smokey at times. I already recommended Pizzicato today. In Brentwood and you can give it a shot. Probably around $15 per person but you get an authentic italian feel and I always feel that I really should have paid more for the food I got.
