King Arthur's Baker's Reward, Yay or Nay?

I just got the advertisement for a Baker's Rewards Program by King Arthur Flour (http://www.kingarthurflour.com/rewards/).

For those of you longtime buyers from KAF, do you think this annual membership and the guaranteed free shipping for orders of $25 and up is worth the $40 annual cost?

    No

It's really a question of the math... if you regularly buy from them and have spent more than $40 in shipping costs in the past year, then it will be a good deal for you.
I actually haven't bought much from them because the shipping can be high, esp on the flour. So this is making me consider....

I normally wait for the random free shipping offers to stock on specific products, but sometimes when things catch your eye its hard to wait! So I'm thinking I would probably buy more often and try out more things if I didn't have to worry about shipping.

At the same time I would have to watch out on buying too much...

I buy from them, but tend to group my orders together. However, $40 seems a bit steep

This makes me sad for all of you, I buy a bag of KAF every week at my local megamart (I live in NH) and never think twice about it. Maybe I should start a homebased business shipping it out! (kidding, don't want a cease-and-desist from any of the KAF folks :) )

Funny enough but I buy everything BUT flour from KAF. They only sell few of the KAF flours at the supermarkets in my town and its the smallest size available which is a pain for frequent bakers. At the same time it seems weird to order flour online (regardless of company) so I just make do with Pillsbury AP flour most of the time, and buy other brands for things like bread flour.

I wish our supermarkets would carry their other products, particularly extracts and other baking specialty products I can't find here.

No worries, Erin - that's how we started our Baker's Catalogue, shipping bags of flour to Florida snowbirds from New England... : ) PJ @ King Arthur Flour

              No.

My 13 yr old loves to bake but as much & as often as I would like to buy from KAF, shipping costs are too high. Are there other retailers that charge an annual shipping fee & still require a minimum per order? I can't think of any.

As I always say, free shipping are two of my favorite words...after open bar :)

I might consider it. I find that I do periodically buy a lot from KA, and what stops me more is what I consider to be their very high shipping costs. I definitely spend more than $40 a year on shipping, and I always complained about the cost of their shipping when surveyed.
