Terry O'Reilly's in Newton Centre

Velda Mae Oct 25, 2012 04:43 AM

Ate at Terry O'Reilly's in Newton Centre last night. We had the fish-n-chips and a side salad. The fish was very dark golden brown and good (not great, but good), but the chips were limp Sysco fries. The vinegar-based coleslaw and tartar sauce were clearly fresh and homemade, but not terribly exciting either. The side salad was a generous portion but was carpeted with thick slices of red onion and contained mixed greens, cucumber slices and some wrinkly cherry tomatoes. I really wanted to like this place but have to give it a "just o.k." and am not likely to go back anytime soon.

I also thought the food was ordinary. Steak tips were cooked properly but not as tasty as Dunn Gahrin's or others I've had in the area. Bartender was pleasant, but no real reason to return.

I understand it has kept a couple of the old Sabra dishes. Wonder if those are any good.
