What liquor stores in SF have the best selection of whiskies? Thanks!

  1. K&L, Cask and D&M all have something to recommend them. Slightly further a field Blackwell's is worth a look. If you're looking for American stuff (bourbon, rye etc.) the Healthy Spirits (15th and Castro) has a good selection.

    Best is hard to define.

      Thanks, looking for American stuff!

Definitely check out Cask (on 2nd Street, just off Market) for American whiskey.

Cask is definitely worth checking out, for whiskey and other spirits. But it's on 3rd St. between Market and Mission, not 2nd.

Yes, Cask is on 3rd Street. My bad!

picked up some Charbay D&T aged. Anybody tried it? How does it compare with the unaged (which I originally wanted but they were out)?

All three -- K&L, Cask, and D&M -- have extensive selections of Bourbon, Rye and other American-made whiskeys, including EXCLUSIVE bottlings produced JUST for each store.

thanks all! guess I'll start with Cask...

      2. I might also suggest Costco. They have interesting small batch producers that they feature and it seems to change fairly frequently and are VERY well priced. My husband has discovered new whiskeys, ryes and bourbons this way!

Costco has only a handful of whiskeys at any one time.

And there's a sale at Costco now. Most appealing is Lagavulin at $54, down from $67, one to a customer unfortunately.
