Chow outing to Hunan Taste for Hot Pot next week

Hunan taste is one of the two authentic Chinese restaurants in the Baltimore area (see numerous posts) and I've heard their hotpot is tremendous. Join us next Wednesday evening in Catonsville for a chow outing.

Let me know soon- need to book in advance. Details: $26 per person, 1/2 spicy lamb broth, 1/2 mild beef broth, with unlimited veggies and unlimited thin sliced beef, shell-on shrimp, crab, chicken, meatballs, fishballs, tofu, other stuff and dipping sauces

    1. Oh no! If only you would do this on Sunday, I would be all in!

      1. How did it go? I have to admit, hot pot has never interested me enough to try it. For other things HT is one of my favorites on the east coast.

          14 of us had a wonderful time! we chose a divided hotpot, only half spicy, and chose lamb. beef, shrimp, crab, cilantro, lotus root, taro, dried tofu, soft tofu, frozen tofu, cabbage.condiments were stinky tofu (wow! and a sweet and spicy bean sauce. My faves were the lamb, shrimp and cilantro.

            Was the stinky tofu furu or actual choudofu? Furu are small cubes (maybe 1"x1-2"x1")of very soft tofu with a pastelike consistency that have been fermented, while choudofu are much bigger pieces (usually squares, sometimes triangles if they've been cut in half) that are served either deep-fried with custardy insides or braised. They're both stinky, but the latter smells kind of like... the aftereffects of lactose intolerance.

        2. Did they mention when the new one was opening in Towson?
