What the Hell is Happening at Hoover's?
For literally years, I have been recommending Hoover's Manor Road location on this site.
I really hope that they change course but I can no longer recommend them even though it leaves a huge chicken-fried gap in my life.
At some point, poor service cannot be overcome by good food. I witnessed, but was not a party to, an altercation between a server and a regular customer that I know from many encounters here. Not to go into too much detail, but the encounter was over an inadequate tip.
We all have our bad days, customer and server alike. BUT then I found out the long time customer had been banned from the restaurant. She had been going there once weekly (at a minimum) for years. It was not her that even left the bad tip, but someone in her party paying their individual tab. I didn't agree that a customer that has supported Hoover's regularly when they needed the business should be banned over this, so I called the restaurant.
They didn't care.
So I emailed the owner.
I very much enjoyed this restaurant,. I have recommended this restaurant so many times. I sent another email.
Still no response.
I can no longer recommend Hoover's..
My husband and I were also ignored by management last time we ate there. The service was basically absent and our food was awful. My cream gravy was so thick and gloppy I could've hung wallpaper with it. We filled out a comment card detailing our awful experience and never heard a word back. This was probably three years ago. We haven't been back. If you're desperate for CFS, even Bill Miller's better.
Sounds like a situation that was handled terribly by a server and or manager. I know Hoover personally through business and how much he cares about his patrons and his business. I stopped by his trailer over the weekend and found out he is out of town. I can't speak for him but I would bet when he is available he will be in touch with you and resolve this problem properly.
I gave up on Hoover's a couple years ago. I found the food to be meh and the service lackluster. When we are thinking about heading over the Manor, Hoover's has become *that place*... you know the one where you say "What about Hoovers?" and someone quickly suggests somewhere else and steers the conversation to anywhere except there.
