Umami Burger coming to NYC

Friend sent me a link. Should I be excited about this. Something about a Port & Stilton burger says heaven to me. Anyone been to any of the Cali locations? anyone else excited about this?

    Umami burger? Well how about a MOS Burger outlet too? Tranquil interior, a wash basin right in front and burgers that aren't overwhelming. If I want to sit and enjoy a hamburger meal, I'd go elsewhere, but on the run, my vote goes to the acronym.

          short answer, it is an Japanese fast food burger place. but back on topic, I am interested in trying Unami burger, wonder how it stacks up to Shake shack

            Umami burger is about the toppings as much as the burger itself.

      Tried the one in Hollywood last year. It was OK. We had the Cali Burger and the Umami Burger, eh. I didn't think it lived up to the hype. But I do think NYC's burger scene is very strong right now, anyway.

        Had a few of these in Cali when I was out there last year. Damm good burger with excelent flavored topings. Certainly can be a nice addition to the burger rotation in NYC.

            Its a gourmet burger, the umami special its good, the Ketchup is home made, the brioche bun is soft, i recomend, and have good montepulciano wine.

                  A prediction - it will taste like a burger. A very well marketed burger.

                    Well, not having seen much on CH more recent than this, and seeing it gets raves on Yelp (this is why I don't normally take Yelp seriously) we decided to give it a try last Saturday. The only reason we did this is that our favorite, BLT Burger, has closed. We were hoping this might be a good substitute, but alas, no.

                    The place was packed, and though we did not wait long to be seated, we ordered right away and it took forever for the food to arrive. The menu selections looked interesting and it was hard to decide which burger to try, but we chose the truffle burger and the royale. The tempura onion rings were among the best onion rings anywhere, but the burgers were disappointing. You said it well, Bob. It tastes like nothing more than a well-marketed burger. The meat was seriously lacking in flavor. No topping or other ingredients can make up for that.

                    Also, while they make a big deal out of telling you they cook the burgers medium-rare (which is how we always order burgers) they came out medium-well. This was not a problem in and of itself, as it did not seem overcooked or dry, but the texture was a bit mushy, unlike the firm texture and beefy taste we have always gotten at BLT.

                    This did not even come up to the level of Shake Shack, which is nothing more than a decent fast-food burger.
