Slow Cooker Feijoada (brazilian black bean stew) anyone have a good recipe?

bythebayov Oct 23, 2012 09:46 AM

I'd really like to make feijoada in my slow cooker from dried beans. Anyone have a recipe for this or an idea of how to do it? Do I need to soak the beans? How much liquid and cooking times? Is it ok to add the meat at the beginning and let it cook for the full 8-9 hrs?
Thanks for your help!

According to our Brazilian friend, people in Brazil only use pressure cookers to cook beans which is key to their texture and flavor. All other methods are grossly inferior and product a "weak sauce."
