Was I dreaming or did I hear that Tabule is planning a 2nd location in Leslieville?

  1. Not dreaming! They've said in their own twitter feed that they get the keys November 1st and plan to open Feb 2013! I really enjoyed my meals at the Yonge/Davisville location. Nice to hear they are expanding!

Awesome. I love Tabule too. Just so far out of my way!

        2. I wish they'd change their menu up here and there.

Yeah a daily special that's a bit different from the usual would be nice. They have good food but it gets a bit same old same old after multiple visits.

Most Middle East sit-down restos in and around Toronto have pretty much the same menus, often at pretty much the same price points. Tabule does it better than most - especially the appetizers - though there are a few other good ones around town. If you find the menu wearying, simply don't go as often. I get to Tabule two, maybe three times a year, sticking to the soups, salads and appetizers, staying away from the somewhat unimaginative main dishes that can give a Middle East resto the aforementioned same-old same-old feeling. Maybe it's all that tasteless rice heaped on the main dishes.

If it is only just tasteless rice, the place isn't all that good.

Agreed - the appetizers are the standout. With mains, we usually order one to split and get the mujadarra rather than the rice.

I almost always get the grilled fish for the main. Enough for two and they rotate the type of fish that is on offer.

I usually order the fried eggplant and fried tomatoes at Tabule, and at Jerusalem.

              2. Looking forward to this! The new location is next to Bonjour Brioche. Hope they are opening soon.

                1. Got a chance to visit the new location last week and am happy to say nothing was lost in translation with this second location. While there were a few service kinks the food was as tasty as usual and I'm rather happy to have them less than a five minute walk from home.

We had the hummus, cauliflower, fattoush, and grilled chicken skewers. No complaints.

                  1. We had dinner there on Friday night. Very nice meal and I'll definitely go back. We had a salad with haloumi and some little sausages for an appetizer, my husband had a fish dish for his main and I had the falafel plate. All tasty choices, but I would definitely order less next time around - too much food! The place was packed and I was glad I had reserved.
