Starting a topic to hear about Friday night's pop-up picnic in the Marina Green, Le Dîner à San Francisco, how'd folks feel about it?

  1. I didn't go, but I do wish there was a similar flashmob style event for Thanksgiving! Not hosting this year, but do so want to get together with foodies for good food in a nice environment that's not a restaurant, and not an "orphan" Thanksgiving!

    1. Hi. This was my second year participating. We got really lucky last year with evening weather in the 70s and 80s. The warm weather made it a far more social event where diners lingered and mingled until we were kicked out of the site.

This year it was damp, windy, and freezing which made all the people around us pack up and leave as soon as possible. The warm weather last year also helped make a meal without on site heating enjoyable. Although I went for some heavier dishes this year (foie torchon, etc) I was still wishing we had a hot entree.

It was more difficult to get through the gates this year, last year each group had one printed ticket vs individual tickets for everybody this year. This year half of our group missed the napkin wave bc they were held up at the gate.

That being said, if the weather cooperates, I think it's a very fun, creative, and enjoyable event. Half of the fun went into planning the menu, table decorations, outfits, and transportation strategy.

How did the evening go for others?
