Dinner near the Westin?

I am coming to Minneapolis in a few weeks for business and staying at the Westin. I am looking for somewhere relatively close by for dinner where I would be comfortable eating alone and total bill is $50 or under (I'm not a drinker so no alcohol included). No specific type of food required. Thanks!

  1. If you are skipping alcohol then any of the non-steakhouse places downtown should be under $50. Masa would be a nice choice. High end Mexican food, very nice interior. The bar at restaurant Vincent is a fine place to eat alone. You can order from the bar menu or the big menu. The food is good and the soups are spectacular. Oceanaire accross the street is solid for seafood. There is a new Indian place called Copper Pot nearby, and in my view it is very, very good.

    1. If you don't mind a 10 minute walk, Saffron and 112 Eatery are two great places virtually across the street from one another. Both of these places would be fine for a solo diner and IMHO, have better food and a more interesting ambiance than the downtown places. Also in that area (the Warehouse District) and very good are Haute Dish and The Bachelor Farmer. 112, Haute Dish and BF feature locally sourced food and creative preparation. Saffron has high end Mediterranean fare, and the chef competed on the Iron Chef.

That being said, I have not tried the Copper Pot, and have been hearing good things.
