Was looking at recipes and thought this was interesting. Has anyone made anything like this before? Thanks!

If you enjoy a warm spiced pumpkin pie, you'll enjoy this version. The apple butter intensifies the spices and adds a bit more sweetness. I have not made this recipe but I have made both a pumpkin and sweet potato pie that has an apple butter glaze, which entailed baking the pie and straight out of the oven adding a layer of apple butter topping that seeps into the pie filling as it cools.

that sounds really good. Did it make it sweeter? I find most pumpkin pies too sweet but love the apple idea.

I don't use alot of sugar in my pies, I tend to enjoy the spice profile more so the apple butter isn't over the top...but it's also just a thin layer. If a guest wanted a sweeter slice they could add a dollop of apple butter on their individual plate.

As apple butters go...commerical or homemade...some are savory recipes and some are sweet.

Yeah... the apple butter I buy is pretty darn sweet. I made a sandwich with cheddar once and could barely eat it (and I like cheddar with jam). OP, I guess it depends on the apple butter and on the amount of sugar in the recipe vs. a regular pumpkin pie recipe - I'd do a little mental math after tasting your apple butter.
