On cancelling restaurant reservations in France

mangeur Oct 17, 2012 07:39 PM

I am always amazed when I necessarily call to cancel a restaurant reservation how almost grovellingly grateful the restaurant is that I called. Why would one not take the time to cancel what is in effect a contract? David Libovitz has put it better than I ever could. Please read and attend. http://www.davidlebovitz.com/2012/10/...

Indeed, the most attitudinous restaurateurs would melt and thank me in the warmest way, as though they suddenly recognized me as their long-lost sister.

Agree with both; it's quite amazing; and try going back the day after you've eaten somewhere to pay more because they undercharged you; now that gets you remembered on every subsequent visit.

Good manners are good manners both in NY and Paris. AFAIK most people cancel as they should.
