Christmas Eve late night menu in NYC

I'm looking for a funky place that will be open on Christmas Eve serving late dinner or dessert for my husband and I.
We fly into Manhattan from Australia for a couple of not, cost/budget is not a restriction, more focused on ambiance, service, good food/drinks, with the intention to welcome December 25th at midnight (in true Latin tradition).

Thanks for your help.

  1. Most restaurants in NYC who are open for Christmas Eve won't stay open until midnight so that the employees can go home, be with their families, etc.

I would look into Blue Ribbon Brasserie, Spotted Pig, maybe Minetta Tavern, but likely they'll close earlier than normal on that night.

    1. You might also try the Latin restaurants - maybe they'll have a Christmas Eve noche buena special. I think Sofrito and Yerba Buena had something last year,.

      1. This will really depend on when your flight gets in and how long it will take you to get to the hotel and drop your bags - if your flight gets in at 8 or 9 (assuming its on time) you could manage, but just maybe.

A late night option which will not be affected by the holiday (or, if anything, will result in slightly busier crowds) would be chinatown. we usually travel over the holidays but did not last year - the christmas eve crowds were pretty substantial, and i recall having to wait for a table.

        1. It's been years since I've been but I'm sure it's still great.

          One if by Land.

OIBL is fine for drinks, but you wouldn't want to eat there...

              Thanks for the suggestions.
I had thought about Yerba Buena. I'll look at OIBL right now.
We don't fly in that same day, so we won't be rushing to get somewhere.
