Windmill in Stratford...closed?

Drove by the other day. There was an orange sticker from the state of CT saying it was closed. I assume (and hope) this is temporary. Windmill is one of a dying breed: neighborhood bar w/ food..in fact great German food which if hard to find. Any info?

Yes, it appears they are gutting the place. I'm anxious to try the food, but the thought of 19 TVs could keep me away. Brats and Kielbasa sound good, Vazzy's pizza, no.

I spent a few memorable Sundays eating great hot dogs there, drinking beer and watching football on their horrible TVs. Good times.

Vazzy's has "coming soon" in their ad today. Still called the Windmill Tavern. WindmillTavernRestaurant.com. " Our latest addition to the Vazzaro Family".

Interesting...I can't believe Rudy finally sold the place! Hope nothing changes though. Talk about a nostalgic local haunt that should remain that forever. My Mom and Dad met there over ~40 years ago.

just what the greater Bridgeport area didn't need, another Vazzy's. Ordinary, mediocre Italian American red sauce food.

The ad says hot dogs, hamburgers, German knock wurst, potato pancakes, pastrami, corned beef, and turkey club sandwiches, French dip roast beef, hand cut fries, soups, salads, chili, and daily early bird specials 5-7 pm. So I guess they are trying to keep up the old ways. I don't see onion rings. I could speculate, but didn't their cook retire? And the loss of French's bakery ( but that's another story).... At least Rudy can retire.
