Quiet(er) spot in South End near BCA

My wife and I have tickets to a performance at the Calderwood Pavilion of the Boston Center for the Arts on October 27th. We are meeting old friends and were wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a restaurant that is a little quieter than the usual South End exuberant atmosphere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hammersly's is practically next door. It has a genteel buzz, but never loud. You could ask to be seated in the smaller room.
