Yesterday at a chowdown in Oakland someone said the Bavarian World in Reno was worth a trip. I plan to be in Reno soon any recommedations? German food is something I have no knowledge about.

Yimster: I haven't eaten there in a long time, but had fun the one time I did (fun music and polka dancing sometimes). I'm not a big fan of german food so I'm the wrong person to ask, but those who are enjoy it. Call when you come to Reno regardless.

I am going to Reno at the end of the month and searched on line for good restaurants without much luck. Can you give me a few suggestions for good dinner spots? Fancy or not fancy- both suit me and my husband. Thank you very much

An excellent Vietnamese hole in the wall type place is Golden Flower. Great spring rolls, shrimp on sugar cane skewers, and any crispy noodle dish.

Quail Creek is a hip, contemporary type restaurant.
Cafe de Soleil is California cuisine with great view.

Be sure to have a drink at the Chocolate Bar. It just opened a few months ago and is already a big hit. Be sure to get their C martini and try their almond chocolate cake with honey goat cheese cream.

OK, where the heck is Quail Creek??? I've never heard of it...would hate to miss out on deliciousness!!! I agree with all of these other suggestions (especially the Chocolate Bar; very cool place!)...would add the Washoe Grill for a steakhouse that is upscale and casual at the same time..and reasonably priced for the quality. Good non-steak items on the menu, and don't forget the bread pudding for desert!!! Yum! I also like the Bangkok Cuisine on Mt. Rose for Thai food.

The reason you can't find it is because it doesn't exist. The restaurant I'm thinking of is The Grill at Quail Corners. Can't tell my quail apart. Unfortunately, they don't serve quail, but the food is pretty good. It's on 6520 S. McCarran Blvd. 827-6262

OK, I know the place. I just call it the Grill. I've never had dinner there, but have eaten lunch several times and always enjoyed it (I used to work right around the corner from there, hence the lunches). Also had a few after-work drinks there; they make a good martini. Will try it for dinner some time. And on a related note: there is a little Fondue place right behind it; I think owned by the same people. I know fondue is a little declasse right now, but I've been craving it. Anyone ever tried the place???
