WHRE TO EAT IN LA PAZ, MEXICO?
I haven't been to La Paz for a couple of years, but here are a couple of places you can try.
Rancho Viejo: They may have a couple of locations around town, but the original is toward the south side of the malacone a couple of short blocks from the water. Roast meat is the speciality. They have a couple of indoor dining rooms, but I'm always happiest sitting outside near the grill, sometime near midnight.
If you want a sort of "Gringo" style Mexican dinner try "Tailhunter", on the waterfront a mile or so north of downtown. The owner Jonanthan runs a number of the local sportfishing tours and he has (every time I've been there) fresh fish and good food and good times. If you care about NFL playoff games, this would be a good place to check out.
For breakfast or an early lunch, get a taxi and have him take you to one of the "mercados"(there are 3 or 4 of them in town) and go inside and walk around. You will see lots of good food for sale! There will be a number of "lunch counter" vendors who serve very authentic mexican food, if in doubt choose the one with the biggest crowd. Look at what other people are eating, and ask for samples... it's not for everyone, but I've alway enjoyed it.
