Portsmouth Birthday Dinner

Should we go to Black Trumpet? Other suggestions and why? Casual is fine.

      We went there about five years ago for my son's baptism. The space in a beautiful old building. The restaurant is really old school. Not very interesting, in my opinion. It's the only place I know of in the area that is not casual/relaxed.

      I love Black Trumpet, good food and drink in an interesting space. Start with a drink at Moxy on Penhallow St.

        hi joanie, been following your donut adventures; posted a few questions about 'cake v.s. yeast?' but maybe you didn't see them. We love Bl Trumpet. Romantic space in an 19th c. brick chandlery w/ exposed beams. (Bartender Marion is very talented btw. Always infusing and creating something new.) I always learn something with Evan's food; some obscure ingredient i didn't know. I think he does a lot of exc things w/ seafood and starches.(But desserts have never been strong there imo.)plus he's very sea and farm to table and really cares about all aspects of his restnt. Portsmth is a wonderful walking town too.
