Seeking coffee from India

akachochin Oct 10, 2012 05:08 AM

Does anyone know of a local source for coffee beans from India. Years back, Triumph Cafe carried some, but that was the last place I recall finding them.

I've seen Mysore at Central Market here in Houston. Might try there.

Did not see it the last time I checked, (Austin, CM North) but it has been a while. Will check again tomorrow.

      Thanks for the tip.

Went by CM this morning and they did not have any Indian coffee.

Stopped by my local Whole Foods, which is very small, and they had an "Indian Blend" . I picked up half a pound but haven't tried it yet.

Thanks for the update. I have been meaning to update re: my visit to CM north where I found no Mysore or other Indian coffee. Unfortunately, it was evening, so there was no one around who knew anything about their stock or the possibility of them having it. I'll take a look at the WF Mothership and see what I find.

If you're still around and still looking, I foundsome Jumboor Estate by Java Pura this evening at Central Market. Package says it was roasted yesterday.

Thanks. Can't look today, but will sometime tomorrow. Were you at the north or the south CM?

          Houston actually.

But look for the Java Pura prepackaged bags.

I used to buy Mysore from my local purveyor, (Java Coffee and Tea Co.), and occasionally at Central Market, but they haven't had it in a long time. Ever since this post and my reply six months ago, every time I go buy a bulk bin coffee place or even just a new grocery store, I always check for Indian coffees. I even drove to a couple of South Asian groceries here in Houston specifically for Indian grown coffees and came up empty.

I was delighted to find this on Friday.
