Gourmet Kingdom (Carrboro) - temporarily closed

LulusMom Oct 7, 2012 11:35 AM

There was a fire in the kitchen of Gourmet Kingdom last night. They need to make repairs and then go through the process of getting inspected before they can reopen but they are hoping it won't take too long. Just a heads up so that people can call and make sure they are open again before heading there.

Did you guys see that CNN named them one of the 50 best Chinese restaurants in the US?

I would be surprised if the author of that article tried more then a handful of the restaurants she was reporting on. It sounds like she did an internet search and put together a list based on a few sites.

Well, that's the only feasible alternative. Most such lists try to "spread the wealth" across the nation.

My point is that I am not even sure that GK is the best in State let alone one of the top ones in the US. And even her NY selections ignore Flushing, where some of the best restaurants are, for the more hip popular Manhattan ones.
