Any experience with steam ovens?

We are wondering if anyone had any experience/opinions on steam ovens. Would it be a good addition to a kitchen, or is there something else we should consider? We are planning on a single wall oven with warming drawer as well. We are considering a Wolf steam oven and would appreciate any thoughts on this topic. Thanks!

  1. It depends on how you cook and what you want to cook and what you think you will wind up cooking in it. You have to be ready to practice to see what settings for each element works best for you.

    I have been using a Miele steam oven and it's been very good for vegetables, poultry and shellfish, so-so on desserts. I do not like the way rice and grains come out in it. Have also attempted sous-vide a couple of times as well, but that didn't work very well because it doesn't have as fine a temperature control as the circulator does.

    If I were planning again and budget was a concern, I'd do two wall ovens before a single oven and a steam oven.
