Is it packed at Toro's on Friday after work?

Chocaholic Oct 4, 2012 10:14 PM

Where to park?

And do they take reservations?

I assume you are referring to Toro, Ken Oringer's restaurant, and not some other place called "Toro's" that I am unfamiliar with.

Toro does not take reservations. You should certainly expect it to be packed on a Friday after work -- really, you should expect it to be crowded all the time.

And you should avoid trying to drive and park, unless you are willing to use a parking garage or enjoy driving up and down Mass Ave trying to get lucky. I don't know where you'd be coming from but it's much easier to take the T. The South End is highly walkable.

Don't get MC started on the apostrophes!

Never had a problem parking on the street by Toro - but yes, it will be packed!

Slim, I think, was the one who got ME started on the apostrophes.

Nobody goes to Toro's (which I believe is named after its owner, Ken Toro) anymore: it's too crowded. Except everybody goes there.

It's not unusual for Toro to fill up and start quoting hour-plus waits for tables by 6:00 or 6:30pm on a Friday. Getting there for the five o'clock dinner opening is one way to beat the inevitable rush. Smaller parties (twos) are always easier to seat than larger ones.

They usually have a valet out front too if you're into that sort of thing.

Depends. If you leave work right at 5:00 and you work nearby, not so much.
