Has anyone tried this place yet? It is located on El Camino Real in Encinitas and was highly recommended by my rather sushi fanatical acupuncturist.

This place is wonderful. Went last week with my honey and had a wonderful Japanese Tai Snapper Sashimi served on banana leaves with a wild spire of shredded daikon towering over the tiny fish that the sashimi came from. After we finished the plate it was returned with the tiny fish carcass totally deep-fried served with a little ponzu dipping sauce. WOW! Also had a super Japanese King Mackerel and Pen Shell Scallop Nigiri. Will definitely be returning!

Went again last weekend. Had a super White King Salmon Nigiri, Katsuo Nigiri, Albacore Tataki, and Hamachi Kama. The Echigo rice beer is really good, my honey had a Kikusui sake, a delicious Junmai Ginjo. Can't wait to go back and have Blue Fin Toro and the Ankimo.

We just went there tonight on the Chowhound recommendation and totally loved it. First off, there were a number of tables there speaking Japanese which I always consider a good sign. The sushi was great as were the other dishes. Try the box sushi, rice, then salmon, crab and tuna on top. It comes out in little rectangles. Excellent. Highly recommended.

Glad you liked it! I can't stop spending a small fortune there! If Haji has the grilled Barracuda in miso, be sure to give it a try. The small Tai sashimi is also very excellent. He usually has a couple of tempura dishes that are always beyond amazing, sea eel, fresh squid, and crab last time. I also love how he serves a lot of dishes on huge tea leaves (I thought they were banana originally).
